Public Safety & Quality of Life
By addressing these interconnected issues, we can create neighborhoods that are not just safer, but more livable, walkable, and enjoyable for everyone in District 2.
The Challenge
Worcester residents deserve safe streets, reliable infrastructure, and efficient public services. Currently, dangerous road conditions, inadequate pedestrian safety, and limited public transportation options are reducing quality of life and creating unnecessary hazards.
My Vision
A Worcester where residents feel safe in their neighborhoods, can navigate our streets safely regardless of how they travel, and enjoy responsive public services that enhance community well-being.
My Plan
Community-Centered Public Safety
Foster positive community and police relations built on mutual respect and understanding
Support comprehensive training for officers in de-escalation, mental health response, and cultural sensitivity
Ensure accountability and transparency in all public safety departments
Implement community-based solutions that address root causes of crime
Transportation Safety Improvements
Launch a comprehensive street safety initiative focusing on Worcester's most dangerous intersections
Improve sidewalks, crosswalks, lighting, and signage throughout District 2
Implement traffic calming measures in residential areas and near schools
Advocate for better snow removal on sidewalks to ensure year-round accessibility
Public Transportation Enhancement
Work with state partners to establish permanent fare-free WRTA service
Advocate for increased routes and extended service hours to better serve residents
Support transit-oriented development that reduces car dependency
Improve bus stop infrastructure with better shelters, seating, and real-time arrival information
Quality of Life Services
Enhance parks and recreational spaces with better maintenance and modern amenities
Support community-building initiatives that bring neighbors together
Address noise pollution, illegal dumping, and other quality of life concerns
Improve communication between city services and residents through accessible digital platforms
